How it works

FileFit attempts an object-stream rewrite of an unencrypted PDF. It does not downsample scanned images or rasterize text. If rewriting is larger, the original is returned; a specific KB or MB target is not guaranteed.

  1. Choose one unsigned, unencrypted PDF with no more than 200 pages.
  2. Review the document-feature warning. Files with detected forms, annotations, attachments, or tags require acknowledgement.
  3. Reduce size, compare actual bytes and page count, and inspect the document before downloading.

Supported files and limits

Unsigned, unencrypted PDFs, up to 200 pages. PDF-to-JPG and individual-page extraction are limited to 30 selected pages per run. Up to 40 MB per file; batches up to 20 files and 80 MB. Single-document operations accept one PDF.

Useful answers

Can I compress a PDF to 200 KB or 2 MB?

FileFit cannot guarantee an existing PDF at either limit. Fit File can check a target against the measured output, but scanned pages may need image recompression that this engine does not perform.

Does this preserve searchable text?

Pages are not intentionally rasterized, so text and vectors remain in the PDF. Still inspect the output: rewriting can affect document features, and tagged/form documents require special care.

Why did my PDF not get smaller?

It may already use compact objects, or its bytes may be dominated by images. FileFit returns the smaller original rather than claiming a reduction.
